The Schmoeckwitz Summer Camp is an exciting place for children and teens to learn the German language, experice the German culture, and make friends with other students from around the world. The Camp is held on Lak Zeuthen which is southeast of Berlin. Classes are held with students from as many as 30 nations from around the world at the beautiful campus of Teikyo University. Its an ideal place for play, sport, fun, and learning.

Every day students will have 3 German lessons with fellow kids at the camp. All classes are taught by native German speakers. Activities after class are with both international students and German students who are attending the camp. This allows students to meet, and practice their German in a fun, friendly environment. Classes are held at the private Teikyo University on Lake Zeuthen, just outside the village of Schmöckwitz (partif the Berlin district Köpenick). The Center has a fireplace lounge for students to meet and socialize with one another, a fitness center, a volleyball court, and various other sports facilities.

The Morning German Language Classes Consist Of:

  • 15 lessons (Each lesson is 45 minutes), Monday through Friday
  • Group classes with a max of 12 students per class (Average 8)
  • Classes are taught using an immersion methodology
  • 4 levels: beginners, elementary, intermediate, advanced
  • All course materials are included
  • Internationally Mixed Classes, with students from Mexico, Poland, Spain, France, Bulgaria, Denmark, Russia, Norway, England, France, Italy, Greece, Portugal, the US, and any many other countries.

Students will receive a well balanced program. It  focuses on both the learning of the German language, and helping students make new friends from around the world.

Daily Activities:

Individuals attending the camp have a variety of activities that they can engage in during the afternoons. Some of the activities that students participate in include:

  • Swimming
  • Cycling
  • Dancing
  • Singing
  • Theater
  • Photography Workshops
  • Camp Newspapers
  • Disco Parties

The activities gives students the perfect chance to interact in international groups. Allowing them to learn about the cultures of different students from around the world, all while practicing their German.

Bi-Weekly Excursions

In addition to all of the daily activities that students participate in, there are two organized excursions every week. This helps the students to use their German in the public settings, and really get and understanding of the German culture. All excursions are chaperoned, and often include visits to:

  • Berlin district of Koepenick
  • The City Center
  • Potsdamer Platz
  • Reichstag
  • Brandenburger Tor
  • And Many More

Accommodations - Residence
Students will live on the campus of Teikyo University while attending the camp. The residence is very nice and has fitness and sports facilities nearby. Each room has 2 or 3 beds, a shower, and a wash closet. Students will be placed with other students of different nationalities unless a different arrangement is specially requested. Food at the camp may not be the same as you are used to at home. For example Germans eat a large breakfast, and often like to cover hot meals with a sauce. We remind all students to keep an open mind, and enjoy the German Culture.
